The role was an interesting and challenging opportunity to reshape Application Management across the region. On my first day I was told that the entire function had been put to RFP and it was my job to shepherd that through selection, transition and operation. At the same time I needed to bring together various functions that had been orphaned over the years, implement new working practices, shape the team and build a constructive working relationship with the chosen partner.
Running an operation covering 15,000 users and nearly 400 applications (after we removed the unused ones!) is a complex business, but I was able to create a team and a service that hit all its metrics consistently while regularly receiving praise and recognition from the business.
Redundancy is never a nice thing to experience. Sadly, that’s how my time at JLL ended, along with several of my colleagues. There are many reasons, but principally it was driven by a global re-organisation coinciding with the uncertainty at the end of 2018.
